BeWidgets is a free personalization program for PC by developer BeXCool. It is a desktop customization tool that lets users create widgets that will display all kinds of information. It comes with various two theme choices and a variety of icons to cater the look to their liking.

Much like Power Widgets or XWidgets, BeWidgets allows users to populate their desktop screens with handy and useful information at a glance. It was developed to match the look of Microsoft's latest Windows 11 operating system but can be used with the previous Windows 10 version, as well.

Personalize your desktop

The first desktop widgets that Microsoft ever implemented were back with Windows Vista with the infamous resource-hogging Desktop Gadgets. They sat on an enlarged taskbar anchored to the side of your screen for a floating look and provided information on time, weather, and other. Fast-forward to today, and you get BeWidgets, a modern and more efficient interpretation of the concept.

Compatible with both Windows 10 and 11, this tool lets you create floating widgets that can be placed anywhere you like on your desktop. The things you can add include time, weather, finances, and a photo gallery. Each one is highly customizable, from the size to position, and their corner radius. You can also add app shortcuts for quick access to your often-used ones.

Additionally, there are two theming options that will let you switch between light and dark choices to better match your desktop background and the operating system's color scheme in general. Having said all that, though, the application does miss a few features that others have, and the most obvious one is some form of system performance metrics. Hopefully, they will be added in a future update.

Nice but a bit limited

In conclusion, BeWidgets is a great way to spruce up your desktop with visual flourishes that are both nice to look at and offer useful information. It's easy to use and all of its widgets are highly customizable to suit your liking. It could use some additional options to monitor system performance, but aside from that, this is a solid choice worth giving a try.
